My Approach to Therapy

My approach is collaborative, integrative, and deeply relational. Together, we explore the connections between your thoughts, emotions, body, relationships, and life experiences to develop greater awareness, resilience, and meaningful possibilities for change.

A Collaborative, Experiential Approach to Healing

Meaningful therapy begins with feeling safe enough to be honest, curious, and fully present. Michael creates a supportive environment where you can explore your experience with compassion and without judgment.

His approach is integrative, relational, trauma-informed, and embodiment-focused. Rather than relying on one therapeutic method, Michael draws from several perspectives and adapts the work to your needs, goals, and circumstances.

Together, you can explore the connections between your body, emotions, thoughts, relationships, history, and environment. The goal is to develop greater awareness of what is happening within you, understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and discover new possibilities for responding to life’s challenges.

A Whole-Person Approach

Michael considers the many dimensions of your experience—not just thoughts or symptoms. Therapy may include exploring your physical and emotional experience, cognitive patterns, relationships, environment, family and systemic influences, and the ways these dimensions interact.

This whole-person perspective can help you develop greater self-awareness, emotional balance, resilience, and a deeper sense of connection with yourself and others.

How We May Work Together

Michael’s approach draws from several complementary perspectives. The emphasis may shift depending on where you are, what you’re experiencing, and what you want to change.

Five Dimensions of My Approach

Develop practical skills for navigating everyday life.
Understand the patterns beneath your present challenges.
Listen to your body and develop greater nervous-system awareness.
Examine the beliefs and stories that shape your experience.
Create greater safety, authenticity, intimacy, and connection.

Pragmatic: Developing Skills for Everyday Life

Therapy isn’t only about understanding yourself—it is also about developing practical skills that help you navigate life more effectively.

Together, you may explore mindfulness, emotional self-regulation, communication, and body-mind practices that can support greater steadiness, awareness, and well-being.

You may develop greater ability to:

  • Regulate difficult emotions
  • Stay grounded during stressful situations
  • Communicate without becoming defensive
  • Respond rather than react
  • Bring greater awareness to everyday choices

Analytical: Understanding the Patterns Beneath the Patterns

Sometimes the challenges we experience today have roots in earlier experiences.

Michael helps you explore the psychological, behavioral, and relationship patterns that have developed throughout your life. By bringing greater awareness to these patterns, you can begin to understand what shaped them—and consider whether they still serve you today.

This work may include exploring beliefs, defenses, different parts of yourself, and longstanding patterns of behavior so that you can create more conscious and meaningful ways of living.

Somatic: Listening to What Your Body Knows

Our bodies often communicate things that words cannot.

Somatic therapy brings greater awareness to physical sensations, nervous system responses, movement, and the ways emotional experiences are held in the body. By learning to notice these signals with curiosity, you can develop new possibilities for emotional regulation, balance, and vitality.

This may include attention to body awareness, movement, sleep, exercise, nutrition, and other aspects of physical well-being that influence your overall sense of balance.

Cognitive: Changing the Stories That Keep You Stuck

The way we interpret ourselves and our experiences can profoundly influence how we feel and behave.

Together, you can examine the stories, beliefs, assumptions, and patterns of thinking that contribute to distress. Rather than simply accepting old narratives as truth, you can become more curious about them and begin developing perspectives that are more conscious, compassionate, and supportive of who you

Relational: Healing Through Connection

The therapeutic relationship itself can become an important part of the healing process.

Michael creates a space where you can feel safe enough to explore difficult emotions, needs, fears, and relationship patterns. Together, you can develop greater awareness of how you relate to yourself and others while strengthening your ability to remain grounded, communicate authentically, and stay connected during challenging moments.

This relational work can be particularly meaningful for people seeking greater intimacy, trust, emotional connection, and healthier relationships.

An Approach That Meets You Where You Are

There is no single path to healing.

Michael adapts the work to your individual needs, experiences, and goals. Sometimes therapy may involve developing practical skills. Other times, you may explore longstanding emotional or relational patterns, listen more deeply to your body’s signals, or examine the beliefs and stories that shape how you experience yourself and the world.

Together, you can develop a deeper understanding of yourself while creating new ways of responding, relating, and moving forward.

The goal isn’t to become someone different. It is to develop greater awareness, freedom, connection, and choice in how you live your life.
